Pennsylvania

Let’s go on a road trip!

Starting off in my home state, Pennsylvania. Let’s take a look…

Ricketts Glen State Park, PA

Fall 2020

Tuscarora Falls

If you’re looking for a scenic hike in PA and want to catch some waterfalls along the way, look no further.. Only two and a half hours away from Philadelphia, Ricketts Glen in Benton, PA has a beautiful 7.2 mile hike giving you the opportunity to observe and appreciate 24 waterfalls!

This has become my favorite hike thus far, and I make it a point to visit yearly. The hike is so serene, and gives me the ability to tune out the rest of the world. Seeing the falls and how they differ depending on the season is quite the plus when visiting twice in a year!

Bushkill Falls

Another Pennsylvania gem only two hours from Philadelphia, is Bushkill Falls. Located in Bushkill, PA and privately owned, for only $17 on a weekday you gain admission to hike and explore the 2 mile trail and can observe 8 lovely waterfalls.

The tallest fall on the property, Bushkill, towers at 100 feet and is just 6 feet taller than Ganoga Falls of Ricketts Glen. The hike is a cake walk compared to Ricketts Glen, just be prepared for a lot of steps. Our legs were on fire when we finished but boy was it worth it!

Mount Minsi - Delaware Water Gap, PA

Fall 2023

Only 25 minutes south of Bushkill Falls, you’ll find the Delaware Water Gap. The Delaware River is one mile wide between New Jersey’s Mount Tammany, and Pennsylvania’s Mount Minsi; approximately 1200 feet below the tops of each mountain.

On my first ever solo trip, I explored the Pennsylvania side. Conveniently enough there’s a parking lot on Lake Rd, which is only a 10 minute walk from the Appalachian Trailhead. Total, it’s a 2 mile hike up to the peak where you get a stunning view of the Water Gap. As long as you don’t bring as much camera gear as I did, the hike should be a breeze!
